pJust after 2000 hours units were alerted to the inner loop of the Beltway near St Barnabas Rd for an accident involving a motorcycle. Ambulance 88 was leaving Southern Maryland Hospital from a previous transport and hearing that A38 was the closest unit asked if they could be of assistance.nbsp A88 was placed on the call as it was updated that the rider of the motorcyclenbsp was possibly not breathing.nbsp The crew arrived just after PE42 who confirmed they had a trauma code.nbsp The patient was loaded quickly into A88 as personnel continued resuscitation efforts and was taken to the closest hospital with members of PE42 on board.nbsp Despite the efforts the patient was pronounced dead at the hospital.nbsp Ambulance 88 cleared in about 90 minutes.brp
nbspAt 1635 hours Engine 83 amp Ambulance 88 were alerted to 322 Carmody Hills Dr in Seat Pleasant for a report of fire and smoke coming from a house. Engine 83 arrived to find a vacant house with smoke showing and advanced the bumper line. The crew removed the plywood from the front door where they found a small fire in the living room and extinguished the same. Additional crews searched and checked for extension. After some ventilation the assignment was scaled back and Engine 83 and T38 were held to assist the fire investigators. Ambulance 88 had the aid station. The fire is under investigation and the units from 8 cleared in just over an hour.nbsp
nbspAt 0438 hours Engine 82 and Ambulance 88 were alerted to the 800-Blk of Nalley Rd in the first due for a report of a person struck by a vehicle after a carjacking. Units arrived with police to find a female patient who was struck after having her car stolen which shortly thereafter ended up into a tree. Crews treated the patient who suffered minor injuries but was taken to a local trauma center as a precaution. Engine 82 cleared in about 30 minutes and the ambulance returned in just over an hour.
nbspAt 1803 hours Ambulance 88 was alerted to Central Ave amp Cindy La in Seat Pleasant for an accident involving a motorcycle. Chief 8 also responded on the call and units arrived to find a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV. An occupant of the SUV was found to be trapped in the vehicle due to the impact and additional resources were called for. Personnel quickly evaluated the patients and began treatment. Squad 6 arrived a bit later and popped the door to remove the victim that was trapped. The rider was pronounced dead on the scene and Ambulance 88 transported 1 to a local trauma center. Chief 8 had the command and Ambulance 88 returned to service in just over an hour.nbsp
At 1549 hours Ambulance 88 was alerted to Gateway Bl amp Aztec Dr in Company 26s area for a report of a shooting. Units arrived with police to find a male shot once in the forearm. Units treated the patient who was the taken to a local trauma center by Ambulance 88 for further treatment. Ambulance 88 cleared the call in about an hour. This was just one of many calls that kept the ambulance on the street for nearly 9 consecutive hours. Some days you win some days you lose.pp
